bay

December 02, 2015 — Members of the Samahan ng mga Magsasaka ng Barangay Calo, Inc. of the Municipality of Bay, Laguna, accompanied by Bay Agriculture Office staff, visited Ato Belen’s Farm.

Since most members of the Samahan are Rice Farmers, we pushed for integration and diversification so they can multiply income opportunities and establish more revenue streams which would prove to be beneficial in times of natural disasters and calamities.

Asked if they enjoyed their visit, the participants quipped that ‘they learned a lot from the experience and are convinced to transform portions of their lands into integrated farms.’ They will be coming back to consult on orchard establishment.

November 18, 2015 — ABF hosted the visit of Farmers and Staff from Afghanistan’s Ministry of Agriculture today. The visit was part of the customized Training on Sustainable Agriculture and Natural Resources Management, implemented by the International Institute for Rural Reconstruction, funded by the Asian Development Bank.

The delegates were particularly interested in fruit and forest tree planting material propagation techniques but were also briefed on the ecosystem of enablers where some initiatives are still primarily private-sector driven. ABF also shared some CSR projects which our guests, who are currently running programs for women empowerment, admired.

Pleased to hear that they learned a lot from the visit. They wished us all the best as we bid them farewell before moving on to their next destination.

Before ABF, the group also visited Senator Kiko Pangilinan’s Organic Farm in Silang, Cavite.

OUTSTANDING ORGANIC FARM FAMILY

October 27, 2015: Mr Ato Belen, with the owners of Escaba Food Products, this year’s Regional Outstanding Agri-Entrepreneur and our beloved AEWs from the City Agriculture Office of San Pablo, Armie and Cynthia

September 30, 2015: This year’s Regional Outstanding Organic Farming Family with officials from Regional Field Unit IVA

October 29, 2015: Belen Family with officials of Department of Agriculture – Region IVA and the Provincial Government of Laguna
